SHERPA intends to provide the earth science community a way to archive and share pictures of subsurface ruptures taken during their field trips.

Pictures uploaded by the users are not modified. Therefore, to prevent incautious users from downloading pictures they do not own for publication purposes therfore, each picture are duplicated and converted in middle quality resolution and 2 watermarks are added ("Not for publication"+ "Name of the author". However, the users can decide that their pictures are made public and then drop the watermark. If so, they must be aware that their pictures will not be protected anymore.

The users can delete any picture they had loaded previously via SHERPA.

The users commit to upload only pictures relative to the earthquake phenomenon. If not, SHERPA administrator can decide to close an account.

The users accept that their middle resolution/watermarked pictures can be viewed by other users without notification through SHERPA Visualization tool. However, their raw pictures (full resolution and not watermarked) will not be accessible directly through SHERPA Visualization tool. Raw pictures can be downloadable only to registered users and upon agreement of the owner/author.

All pictures appearing on this website are protected by international copyright laws. Nothing can be copied, reproduced, modified, published, uploaded, posted, transmitted or distributed in any form with the exception of personal, non-commercial downloading and viewing. By uploading a picture, the user acknowledges that SHERPA does not allow the upload of pictures that infringe on any copyright, property right, trademark or any other applicable right.

The user acknowledges that even though we do our best to prevent it from happening, SHERPA cannot be held responsible for the misuse or abuse of any picture. The user is solely responsible for the pictures he/she uploads and warrants that she/he owns all proprietary rights regarding the picture, and as for pictures depicting identifiable persons.

If you believe that information of any kind on this website is an infringement of copyright in material in which you either own copyright or are authorized to exercise the rights of a copyright owner, then please advise us by sending  an email to webmaster@emsc-csem.org.

We collect no information about our users that is not supplied voluntarily through web forms or e-mail. Any information collected in this manner is never shared with anyone unless expressly requested by the user. We do not sell or reveal user information to anyone. We may at times collect anonymous tracking information to gauge usage patterns and the popularity of specific areas of the site. As with all other information, these data do not leave our sites. Some of this data is gathered through the use of cookies.Transparent gifs or pixels may occasionally be used for the same purpose, but these items gather no personal data and have no effect on site use or navigation.
